Can Ràfols Stands Out in the New Penedès Wine Fair
Can Ràfols dels Caus took the opportunity to promote its “Trio of whites” at the XIV New Penedès Wine Fair held at Drassanes in Barcelona. This trio is formed by the limited-edition white wines of Xarel•lo Pairal, El Rocallís and La Calma.

One of the wines which “is on everybody’s lips”, as Amanda Tozer says, the Wine Tourism Coordinator of Can Ràfols, is the white wine known as La Calma. This wine is great for drinking on its own and has been aged in French oak barrels for between 4 and 6 months and is made with the Chenin Blanc variety.

The Xarel•lo Pairal is another of the wines which makes up this trio and is characterised by the fact that it is 100% Xarel•lo, one of the most genuine indigenous varieties of grape in the Penedès, and by the fact that it has been aged in chestnut barrels.

As regards El Rocallís, the 2005 vintage will be available very soon. The last of these wines comes from a vineyard planted on top of the great mother rock of the Garraf Massif: a limestone mountain range where the vines have to work extra hard to get all of the nutrients they need to grow.

This winery has just celebrated its 30th anniversary, and as a result, has brought out a limited edition wine made of 100% Cabernet Franc from a biodynamically farmed vineyard. In addition Can Ràfols dels Caus is a member of the Garraf Massif Association of winemakers together with Torre del Veguer, which has as its aim the promotion of the unique terroir and climate of this area as reference points for signature wines.

Can Ràfols is a great place to visit when engaging in wine tourism given that its cellar and stately home are spectacular, as is the surrounding Garraf countryside.
